What I see

This one is special for me. I love all animals, but I have a high appreciation of horses. They are magnificent sentient beings with beautiful eloquent eyes. They are naturally wild and they can also accept to collaborate with humans with resilience (sadly, sometimes, under tightfisted unjustified dictatorship). In this artwork by Jim and Linda Carney, I see a radiant world filled with happiness. I see an expression of love towards the subject itself by the artist. I can’t help but also notice that Princess SweetHeart looks peaceful and grateful. She seems happy. I see in her a unicorn who decided to hide her magical horn in order to live unnoticed with the family who accepted to take her in and care for her when she was found with her back leg injured, wrapped up in barbed wire at age 2. (She is approx 12 now.😊) I also see kindness and generosity because of the initiative from which this NFT collection sprouted… Read on, you will understand.

What I feel

I feel happy and touched by the warmth of the vibrant colors. I almost feel like in a dream because of the slight pastel impressionism style of this beautiful image but I am most definitely moved by the reason why it has been created. I feel touched. I feel filled with gratitude and moved because…

Who is Princess SweetHeart?

Princess SweetHeart was the first animal to be rescued by Jim Carney (@favormindedjim) and Linda Carney back in 2012. Since then, they have been taking in and feeding many animals who were old, abandoned or injured (horses, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, etc.) They operate a small animal rescue shelter in Spokane, WA, USA. Besides caring for the animals they rescued, from time to time they offer workshops where they teach training for dogs and horses. They invite families to come and learn to care for animals, train them, feed them, groom, etc. When the animals turn out to need more resources and attention than they can provide, they also associate with Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Services to ensure continuity and that the animals are properly cared for.

The NFTs

Jim and Linda recently decided to create NFTs by artistically evolving pictures of their rescued animals and selling these artworks to raise money to contribute to their work and help feed the animals on their rescue farm. This is also a way to immortalize these precious souls who shared their lives when they pass out and proceeds from the images of their memory are recycled into more support for the living animals still with them. In our world craving for such altruistic initiatives, I find this idea poetic and beautiful.

Conclusion

NFTs for charity and altruistic causes demonstrate another beautiful side of this “crypto” world that we are building together. I sincerely invite you to support Jim and Linda as well as other causes that will benefit our world and all who lives in it. Thank you Jim and Linda for your initiative. What I see

There is something surreal about an eclipse. The incommensurate power of the sun being completely blocked off by a small spherical rock. Mind you, that small rock affects us all every day by its gravitational pull harnessing oceans and tides all over Earth as a huge vortex. This animated image gives us a glimpse of that powerful pull. Viewing the scene at a low angle forces us to imagine we’re right there among trees looking upwards, seeing the birds, the dancing clouds and the poor sun trying its best to find its way back to us. Red is a color that evokes a solid foundation anchored deep in the ground as well as within our surrounding family and ultimately with oneself. The contrast of darkness offered by the silhouette of the naked branches of the encircling trees reminiscent of roots in this glade emphasizes the sense of belonging with everything else around. Nevertheless, we usually don’t see everything moving around us when we’re part of that which is moving… Would this mean we stepped out of ourselves? Are we the witness of this moment in time? Or are we now aware of that which is the witness?

What I feel

I feel enlightened, as if the only thing one can do in the face of such grandeur is to understand how insignificant our physical size compares to these trees, to the sky and to this distant luminary and to the orb temporarily blocking it. I also feel in complete harmony with the gloomy setup, the faint crown of light around the moon, the blood-red atmosphere swaying to a whispered whimsical inaudible soundtrack that can only be felt at a cellular level once we achieve mindfulness through stillness. That’s when I feel everything is possible. I can start anew. I can truly envision New Beginnings ahead.

Conclusion

As you take time to get acquainted with Melissa’s material and with her relatable story briefly described in the many articles referenced above where she talks about how her passion became a way to make a living, you will find a prevailing sense of harmony and beauty. Everything she does is a tribute to how astonishing our world is and how spectacular a simple short moment can become an eternity into which we’d want to reside forever. What I see

Too often have we witnessed rulers of this world advance on grounds as if they were playing a game of chess. Moving rooks and pawns, caring less for losses than tactical advantage. Giving orders from afar, while their tentacles raise havoc. Calculating each move towards a moving target, forcing common folk to become soldiers ad hoc. What’s worse is that we see the board and we sit back. We’re brainwashed into believing it’s all part of the game while the limits of the chessboard remain contained. When the dust settles and the smoke disperse, it’s too late. Crime is done, Krym is gone and the King is dead. Who was behind the attack? Was the King amBushed? Was the bishop Put in a bad spot? Who cares? Ratings skyrocketed.

What I feel

I feel powerless in front of this disproportionately giant arm moving pieces from such a distance the opponent is faceless. I wish people realized we’re all interconnected. Each square that gets marched upon within the board is a direct kick in our face. I wish I could stop injustice and severe the hand that is moving into game point. The grayscale also adds to the truth of this situation exposed. There are no colors in this picture, everything is a different shade of black once the bomb explodes.

Conclusion

I love it when a piece of art exposes world flaws and atrocities in a blunt manner. No need for descriptive carnage, bloodshed is unnecessary too, just a clean direct jab at our human shortcomings with a touch of humour. What I see

Have you ever tried to get out of a habit? Any little ritual you have that you keep telling yourself you should stop performing until you actually manage to consciously break it off… Until it comes right back!!! Whatever this annoying tiny little quirk is, you believe that once you tame it and achieve a clean life free from it, you will have become that better version of yourself you’ve always aimed for. The more you give credence to this idea, the more you believe it. You start bleaching yourself all over with that desire for purity you’re making up. The more you apply this make-up, the more it covers your “I”. Funny how we are inclined to polish up our eyesight by blocking it with all these beautiful flourishing biases. Let’s not be fooled. Our true colors will always surface. These traits we’re trying to hide are what makes us unique and special. Once we fully accept ourselves as we are, love shines through. Yes, for a time, we may look good in white but self-acceptance must prevail until it feels right.

What I feel

When I asked for her name while gazing at the beauty of this NFT, the name Laura came up. Maybe my mind just made it up because of the flowers, I thought of a beautiful flower (Flora) without room for feelings (minus F). When I look at her, I feel a serious desire for perfection. I feel the weight of her self-criticism. I sense that she is trying to cover herself up in self-righteousness and rectitude as much as she can, but her imperfection keeps rising up to the surface… Still, she doesn’t want to acknowledge it. Instead, she looks straight ahead, trying to see only what image comes through the minuscule tunnels inside the stems of these flowers. I wouldn’t be surprised if she used the same device for breathing… I want to reach out and tell her that the natural color looks better.

Conclusion

I fell in love with that portrait the second I saw it. Just like all Deriniti’s work I have seen, I find a relatable humanity that radiates through. I find a keen ability to illustrate artistically what makes us human. Derin’s work recently made the object of a beautiful article in the great magazine “Creative Talents” (Issue 2: May ’22). Wolves Spirit

What I see

I once heard a story about a battle between two wolves inside us. The story depicts these two wolves as our inner conflicts between darkness and light, good versus evil. It explains that we are the sole person in charge of feeding one or the other. The stronger wolf is inevitably the one we deliberately choose to feed over the other and could explain why sometimes fear takes over when we decide to give into it… This is a different picture that MirArt illustrates in this beautiful NFT. We see a team working as a well-coordinated ensemble whose mission is to keep balance between body and mind. The white wolf leans against the subject’s head as to influence thoughts and ideas by infusing wisdom (represented by the white strands of hair). The black wolf acts as a supporting pillar of the structure by giving strength to the body. The subtle shades of purple in the white wolf’s muzzle appear to me as evocative of the crown chakra that represents our spiritual connection to the universe. Also, the beautiful hints of red in the black wolf’s fur make me think of the root chakra that reflects our foundation and our relationship with all that allows us to feel grounded in our environment and in our life. It is said that eyes are the doorway through which we can see one’s soul. This artwork’s protagonist appears to have a beautiful soul. There are no strong emotions on her face, no joy, but no pain, only assertiveness. An inner confidence that her totem animal will support and protect her no matter what. I also notice that we see the right eye of the white wolf as opposed to the left eye of the black one. Another nice touch to illustrate a perfect equilibrium between the Yin and the Yang.

What I feel

When I dive into the subject’s eyes, I feel inner confidence. I feel empowered. I feel safe, secure and I have faith that everything will be all right. Through her eyes, I feel strong and balanced. The earthy color of the background also inspires a feeling of groundedness into the present. Nothing else matters when you lock eye contact with her.

Conclusion

When I saw MirArt’s name “Mir”, I immediately thought of the Slavic meaning of the word Mir (Мир): which, depending on the context, refers to “Peace”, “The World”, “The Universe”… I like to think that MirArt’s Universe is a world of peace. Mir describes his work by saying: “I Like to Express my Thoughts and Feelings in my Paintings and Spread Beauty and Love Through Art”. I must say @MirNFT, you do that beautifully! What I see

Our human form is clearly delimited. We know where the limits of our body begin and where they end. However, our inner dimension is unlimited, expansive, colorful… And yet… Restricted by our self-imposed credence. To a certain extent, we are in control of our chaos and of allowing layers of conditioning to influence our behavior. Throughout our lifespan on Earth, we get acquainted with means to answer this relentless question: “Who am I?” to which we learn to respond by a: “What is I?” Our judgment can easily be clouded by all these filters and patterns that get programmed into us in our early steps, but slowly, we learn to reach the top of the pyramid where our conscience can be clear. When we look back on all that we peeled along the way and count the layers as we would for a tree trunk to determine its age, we find that these infinite layers are increments to our infinity. When we’re able to see these patterns for what they are, only patterns, that’s when we can truly see how far we got (and possibly dissolve a part of the ego along the way).

What I feel

I can’t help but share the feeling of egotistical joy and pride that appears to be motivating the subject of this artwork, happily lifting his jacket’s collar with his thumb while (I imagine) clapping his heels together and chanting: I have an examined life worth living, I know myself. I also like the little cloud above that kindly reminds us that in our human form, knowing thyself does not exempt us from having ideas clouded by some form of ego (human or spiritual). Nonetheless, learning to examine and recognize our inner patterns can only help us rise above the cloud as pointed by the pyramids (or do I see arrows)?

Conclusion

Jonah’s artwork is beautifully composed with shapes and colors and patterns. Each piece invites us into a world of order and of clearly visible delimitations that make us feel safe at first so that we can open up and invite the undefined into our minds. I also like the clear title of this particular collection: Color Field Portraits. There is no fuss about it, it is clear, or is it? When I look a little closer into these portraits, I can’t help but think of a Certified Financial Planner that would have a Cartesian mind and clean steam-pressed wool suits. And if I get a little more into it, I see this Central Focal Protrusion: our ego. Beautiful work Jonah, thanks for sharing your work with the world. 🙏✌️

A New Code

What I see

Life is a colorful gift which we must honor. It is like a bonfire consuming itself slowly until time has come to transcend another form. Millions of years of incarnation has shown that evolution is progressive. A transition aimed at taking us, step by step, closer to the architect. A process not to be confused with progress which can become defective for it is only relative. The world around us proves to be aggressive and may lead one to pause and ponder. Inside each of us is a ladder, but we must pose the question, are two strands enough? Technically, hands on the rail, yes, we seem to be moving upwards though we’re going around endlessly. We need a new code; we need a new way. Instead of a stepladder, show me a stairway. A new kind of DNA.

What I feel

I feel warmth and I feel hopeful that the surreal flame-like look of this colorful new form of DNA contains the recipe for a better world. It contains all the ingredients to create beings that will put art and expression above all else. The appearance of a stairway that brings us from the Earth to the Sun inspires a quest for perfection. It evokes ideas about a new age where knowledge and exploration will be put forth for the advancement of Humanity on a planet where all care for one another, no scarcity, no hunger.

Conclusion

As the name of his collection says, Chris appears to be on a quest. Through his art, we see the path of someone who found a way to express things he had only ever learned to contain. We find that the beautiful stars composing his galaxy can only manifest through darkness. Each day he gets to understand more about how to connect the dots and draw constellations. And once you start seeing constellations, you can navigate your way to redemption. Thank you so much, Chris, for taking us along on your beautiful Galaxy Quest. 🙏✌️

What I see

Did you ever find solace in something bringing you immense joy and harmony? For the subject of this dream (rainbow pieces #0003), serenity first appears to be found in books. Our protagonist (which I affectionately decided to call Maude) is walking around peacefully eyes closed, literally browsing through a book as if she was walking in a wheat field letting her hands be delicately caressed by nature whilst running through wheat. Words are flying off the pages of her book, swirling around her and turning into shapes, taking form and becoming part of the expanding plane around her. Don’t be confused, it doesn’t come from printed characters on a piece of paper. It arises from a much deeper place. Her higher consciousness is all-seeing, she understands that these shapes, colors, stars, are all from the same fabric. That which gives true power to words, power to manifest, power to amaze, power to build, power to vibrate in tune with he/she who is able to see the True Source shining through. Radiating Love and feelings, that’s the True Source. That’s why it’s so beautiful. But, mind you… It’s just a dream… Or is it?

What I feel

I feel warmth and peace. I feel reverence and an invitation to look up to that irradiating force that is so much bigger than us but that is standing right in front of us. The Universe is so kind that it bends itself at an angle to allow us to wonder at its beauty, all the elements are bent: the sun allowing us to see its core made of love, the sky, the clouds, the ocean, the fire burning on the surface, the ground… Everything resting in balance on the underlying fluid equilibrium that harmonizes all things. The big book onto which Maude is peacefully walking is the springboard that propels us into this contemplative world where everything is possible.

Conclusion

The world around us changes according to our vibration, I truly believe that. When we pause for a moment, take a deep breath with our eyes closed, allow it to sink in and simply are present to that one single act of love towards ourself, feeling the caress of the cool air coming in our nostrils, coming out of our mouth warmer and a little moist, we are aware. This awareness is the doorway to inner peace and more importantly, a direct road to Love. Whenever you stray from the person you want to be today, pause, close your eyes, breathe in, breathe out, and let go. 🙏 Thank you so much for sharing your art Meryem, I was transported into your illustrated dream with grace. (And I’m sorry if her name is not Maude, that’s what she told me when I was gazing at her earlier and asked for her name… 😜) 🙏✌️

What I see

This image first inspires equilibrium, rectitude and devotion. A solid metallic structure that invites us underground. We penetrate a temple where devotees, solemnly walking around with arms crossed behind their straight backs, inside their straitjackets, worship the great architect who designed all this. We go down a wide-open rectangular rabbit hole where the only unbalanced thing not in line with patterns besides the unreachable sky is the living being who was carefully selected to live there, secluded, hypnotized by the multitude of colored lights dancing inside his/her helmet (a highly advanced electronic device programmed to provide he/she who wears it just enough oxygen to barely live, devoid of all emotion). Until time comes when the adorers have to walk down the stairs. They don’t know they are walking into an oven, blinded by the lights they can’t see the distortion in the atmosphere around them emanating from the heat down there. And they can’t sense the heat, how could they? Their straitjacket is made out of foil which repels heat and their big silicon boots and garments were designed for the exact same purpose. Their fate is sealed. In the next few minutes, there will remain only a pile of dust inside a triangular urn on the wall.

What I feel

I feel transported into another universe. I feel moved by the beauty of the distant starry sky and the sunset. I feel admiration for devotion towards higher principles and I feel sadness for he/she who gives up freewill in the name of dictated commandments. And I also feel pity because there is no possibility for human connection inside this environment. The inhabitants of this planet are distracted from their young age until the day they die. There is no proximity between people in this universe, only empty space. It really is a space age.

Conclusion

Caroline Ranere has the ability to create unique parallel universes. Whether it be with her lovely Red Betty, dancer, lover, spy NFT collection, which I warmly invite you to visit on OpenSea, or with other artworks where shapes, patterns and colors follow her set of rules, she is in control. I am grateful that you shared your artwork with me Caroline, even more so that you accepted to share your “Bet on Betty” promotional artwork with me as an NFT. Creating Art Despite the Depression

What I see

Depression is like a prison. Stuck in some form of lethargy, things around us lose their vibrancy… We lose our ability to glow. The dark shades of blue alternating in the background are the bars of our cell keeping us locked in. We are feeling blue, I mean, really, dark, blue. But did you ever hear about that “Fake it until you make it” concept? The painter (or should I say PAIN-ter) represented in this scene is completely bent on himself, likely just out of his fetal position in the far-left corner of his enclosed room, he decided to reach out and grab a brush. Did you notice? The brush is blue also, but a lighter shade of it. He started painting but he’s not looking at his art for now… For the moment, he’s trying to fake it. But there’s no “real” faking here. The magic starts when you take action. No need for huge rants, no need for outer recognition, heck, he’s not even looking at what he’s doing yet but he understands the concept. Whatever he decides to express is fine, each word, each breath, each e-motion (energy in motion) has a different color. As long as he keeps the motion flowing these colors will come out bright, they will elevate him. Very soon he will straighten his spine, raise his chin, open his eyes and see that he painted a colorful bridge to escape… And I’m not just talking “normal” bridge here, this is the powerful Norse-mythology-Bifröst-stuff, HEAR ME OUT! HE WILL ESCAPE! BY THOR AND BY ODIN! (Throwing my cup on the floor with all my might!) BRING ME ANOTHER ROUND MY GOOD MAN, THERE’S A GODLY MOMENT READY TO TAKE PLACE!!!

What I feel

I feel the sadness and the pain of someone who does not have the courage to look at himself in the mirror. I feel grateful to be from a witness point of view because I can see the marvelous beauty of what the PAIN-ter is creating right now. He is like a butterfly ready for his grace. He is like a grain of corn ready to fill up your bag while you go watch LOVE AND THUNDER at a theater near you. I feel joyous, excited and moved about what’s ready to happen. I feel blessed to marvel (see what I did here?) at the courage and the beauty of someone surrounded by darkness but painting with bright colors.

Conclusion

We all experience some form of depression at some point in our life. The first thing we can do is acknowledge and accept it. Sometimes life can get tough and it can sometimes be a drag (where did I read this before?) but we have been given a gift, we have been given a road… (Oh yeah, I know now… KISS and Keanu Reeves come to mind. 😜) And that road’s name is ART.
